Sod House in the Prarie

When you are in the prarie, building materials might be short, especially lumber. So what do you do now, if you want a house? Either go underground with a "Dugout", like the Ingalls Family did, or use sods for walls. Here are some pictures of a reconstruction of a Sod House

Oh, Dugouts are (almost) as old as mankind. If you ever have a chance to go to Mitchell, MN, pass the Corn Palace and go to the Prehistoric Village instead. That is an awesome stop! Highly recommended if you like to know stuff. And please pass Eric my best regards. He is serioulsy a guide.
